Z(ero)ing workshop with Mary Nunan
Z(ero)ing is an improvisation-based movement awareness frame of mind. It comprises a number …
This class introduces techniques (Mary calls them principles) to support you to come at your movement from a number of different angles. It provides for structured explorations into movement impulses (attuning to breath, relationship with gravity) and ‘directional spatial awareness’ (using Space as a support for movement, sensing Space as a surface – a dancing partner): z(ero)ing. The content will include some specific movement material and also some improvisational tasks. Mary’s approach to teaching has slowly evolved over many years and is strongly informed by principles and practices drawn from: Erick Hawkins contemporary dance technique, Post-Modern release-based dance techniques, Somatics and Authentic Movement and the practice of Meditation. If you have specific questions about aspects of your own technique please bring them along and they can be included in the class.
