Professional Classes with Sophie Hutchinson
Dance artist Sophie Hutchinson will be offering a set of three professional dance classes this October
Sophie Hutchinson is a dance artist, performer and facilitator based East Clare. As an independent artist, Sophie is interested in interdisciplinary collaboration and has previously worked with musicians, poets, and filmmakers, including the widely anthologised poet Shamshad Khan. As a facilitator, Sophie’s practice is currently centered around improvisation and embodiment, which draws from her on-going training in somatic movement education and inclusive dance practice. She is currently working with mentor Adam Benjamin thanks to support from Glor Theatre.
Sophie’s class will be an invitation to explore different improvisational scores for performance which she’s been working closely with for the past year. The focus of these scores is keeping movement alive and interesting for the dancer. You can also expect a gentle contact improvisation.
