Professional classes with Rachel Sheil

Dance Limerick announces a 3-week set of professional classes with choreographer and dance artist Rachel Sheil.

Fridays 3, 10  & 31 March

This class will focus on a somatic warm-up that builds in energy throughout, learning easy phrases so that the mover can self-research and explore. Play, joy and fun is the name of the game here! There will also be a focus on imagery, imagination and moving through different movement qualities such as isolations, use of the face and foot-work.

Rachel Sheil is a teacher, performer and choreographer based in Limerick, Ireland since 2010. She received a BA(Hons) and MA(Hons) in Contemporary Dance from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, as well as an ADPA in Street Dance teaching from Urban Strides, London. Rachel was Associate Artist for Dance Limerick (2019-2021) and is Artistic Director of Limerick Youth Dance Company. LYDC have already performed in Laois, Dublin, Belfast, Birmingham and Limerick.

In her role as Associate Artist, Rachel was awarded a dance bursary from Arts Council Ireland to create the work “No Following” with dancer Matt Szczerek. This was debuted at the What Next Dance Festival 2021. Most recently Rachel completed her 7th year teaching on the BA Performing Arts, University of Limerick and her 4th year as Artistic Director of LYDC.
