Part of Dance Limerick's New Series of Professional Classes curated by Dance Limerick and Irish World Academy of Music and Dance Associate Artist, Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín.

Maria will offer a safe space for exploration and investigation into various ways of working with improvisation drawing from her most recent experience working with a group of intergenerational dancers and the idea of painting the canvas. Focus will be on noticing, and specifically noticing our pleasures which informs our learning about ourselves as artists.

About Maria

Maria Svensson is a professional dance artist working mainly with improvisation and an approach called ‘Poetic Movement’ which she has gathered from Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company. Her work spans from teaching all levels and abilities, performing, directing, including film. She is the artistic director and founder of the solo dance festival Going Solo Together which takes place biannually in Örebro, Sweden.

In collaboration with dance artists across a range of practices, Dance Limerick will promote the creation of new and innovative work and will devise programmes of access, engagement and participation for the wider public.

Based at the premises of the former Daghdha Dance Company, Dance Limerick houses offices and a fully equipped studio space along with a separate performance venue known as the Daghda Space
