Step Up dance project celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2020 and has commissioned three past participants to make a new solo work to present at What Next Dance Festival in 2021.
The commission, open to all 58 previous participants of Step Up from 2011 – 2020, offers the successful artists support in developing a new solo work in collaboration with another dancer from the programme.
The three commissioned artists and their collaborators are:
– Aliina Lindroos (Dublin), will work with Millie Daniel Dempsey
– Chrissie Ardill (Donegal/Glasgow), will work with Ryan O’Neill
– Rebecca Lee (Dublin), will work with Rocio Dominguez
The artists will receive a commission fee of €5,000, a week-long production residency at Dance Limerick and will present their new work as part of a special Step-Up Platform at What Next Festival in Limerick in April 2021.
About Step Up Dance Project
Step Up dance project is a partnership between Dance Limerick, Dance Ireland, the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick and the Arts Council, which aims to bridge the gap between dance education and professional contemporary dance practice in Ireland.
It is an annual, intensive programme of training, rehearsals, performance and development for emerging dance artists who have completed their professional training within the last three years. Step Up enhances these dancers’ professional networks by connecting them to the Irish contemporary dance community and improving their professional opportunities in Ireland.
