Open Call for Children aged 8-11 years based in Limerick to take part in an art performance as part of Light Moves Festival.
Dance Limerick seeks to recruit 9 young people interested in creativity and the arts to take part in a collaborative, intimate performance called Blind Cinema on Sunday 26 September.
The event is a screening of a film where the audience sits blindfolded, with 9 young people seated behind, each take turns in describing the film and imagery.
During the performance, the young narrators then choose their very own personal way of describing. Blind Cinema examines ideas around language and interpretation, along with the potential for discrepancies, ruptures and (mis)communication!
Based on the method of Audio Description, Blind Cinema makes the experience of watching a film into a shared investment: a collaboration between young people and adults.
Children should be available to attend:
– Workshop with Aoife O’Brien on Saturday 25 September, 11am-1pm at Dance Limerick, 1 & 2 John’s Square.
– Rehearsal at Belltable, 69 O’Connell Street on Sunday 26 September 12pm
– Performance at Belltable, Sunday 26 September 1-2pm
