The Lime Tree Theatre has been awarded funding from the Arts Council of €100,000 for the year April 1st 2014 to March 31st 2015. The award is for the programming of the performing and visual arts in Limerick city venues to support the making of work by local practitioners and towards developing a strategic approach to programming of venues. The funding is a continued partnership between the venue and Limerick City Council to ensure a professional
arts programme is presented in the city. This will be, in effect, the continuation of the interim Limerick Arts Encounter, whereby a sum of €120,000 was spent on programming in the city over a period of six months from October 2013 to March 2014. The new amount represents a cut in funding to the city, but the Lime Tree and Limerick City Council will endeavour to continue to present as full and high quality a programme as possible, augmented by the provision of new office facilities in 69 O’Connell Street.
As before, some of the work presented will be by touring companies in both the Lime Tree Theatre and the former Belltable at 69 O’Connell Street, and some will be by Limerick based practitioners in the Lime Tree, 69 O’Connell Street or other venues in the city as preferred. Discipline (music, theatre, film etc)
Preferred performance period – i.e summer/autumn 2014/Jan-March 2015
Funding required
Please bear in mind that there will be significant demand on relatively limited funds, so
competition will be extremely high. Programming will be chosen based on Arts Council
criteria – high quality work undertaken by full time, professional artists.
