Workshop for young people with Michel Onomo

Join us for this workshop for young people ages 14 to 18 with one of our artists in residence directly from France.

MICHEL ONOMO, known as Meech’, is a choreographer, dancer and sound designer whose influence extends well beyond the hip-hop scene. Trained from a young age in street dance, he developed a unique approach that positions him as an essential reference in freestyle hip-hop and house dance on an international scale.

Michel began dancing at a very young age, with a versatility around street dance. He has won the House Dance Conference in New York by Brian Green (USA) twice and is a four-times world winner of the Juste Debout Festival. He was initiated in the groups Sanrancune with Joseph N’Guessan and Thony MASKOT, Quality Street and through traditional African dances. As a dancer-performer, he accompanies the approaches of artists Franck II Louise, Rabah Mahfoufi, Iffra Dia and Bintou Dembélé. At the same time, he broadens his curiosity about dance by practicing TAP dance and body percussion with LeeLa Petronio and her hip tap project troupe. From his multiple field experiences, he allows himself to pass the State Diploma in contemporary dance which is refused to him in extremis, but obtains the DEJEPS ASEC PTR and the Choreographer’s diploma. Since 2007, he has developed his own creative projects as a choreographer and sound designer with an important axis of transmission and creates his own dance movement “Ghôst Flow”. Today, he is choreographer of the Opera ballet-Muse “Belle Hélène” by Jacques OFFENBACH.
