RESIDENCY: ELEVEN FARRER HOUSE
Dance Limerick is delighted to welcome Eleven Farrer House for a residency at Dance Limerick Studio in April 2015. Eleven Farrer House is a company of four independent dance artists: Gaelin Little, Tara Silverthorn, Lucille Teppa and Cat Westwood
Residency: 25 May – 5 June 2015
The purpose of this residency is to embark on a final phase of development of the company’s new work Species of Spaces, building on the work’s existing state and allowing the work to grow into a choreographic outcome that will be shared.
“Species of Spaces is an innovative dance project which will stand as a catalogue of many choreographic situations.
Unfixed dance performance, Species of Spaces will not refer to one single dance piece but rather to a collection of countless variations, bespoke performances, all adjustable in duration and layout, flexible enough to be tailored and adapted to many performance contexts. As a response to a fully malleable modern environment, Species of Spaces could be considered, from that point of view, as a perfectly customisable performance product.
The movement material and the physical content of the piece will be articulated around four themes:
Container and contained;
From abstract to narrative;
Framing the void;
Physical language
Initiated by Lucille Teppa and developed by Eleven Farrer House, Species of Spaces was first researched in 2014 thanks to a two-week summer residency at the Ballet National de Marseille (France) and to the support of the Lisa Ullmann Travelling Scholarship Fund. This residency at Dance Limerick offers the means to explore and develop further this current choreographic project into artistic fruition, allowing the piece to be considered thoroughly, on many levels”.
