Moving Beyond Borders to Connect

Dance and Cultural Identity

Roundtable discussion with speakers Jean-Baptiste Baele, Ghaliah Conroy, Stephanie Keane, Amir Sabra, Sonia Sabri and Dylan Quinn. Moderated by Fearghus Ó Conchúir.

Surfacing throughout the works this year is the theme of identity, and in particular cultural identity. How these themes emerge within a number of this year’s artists is the focus of this roundtable discussion. Moderated by Fearghus O’Conchúir, the speakers will share their insights shedding light on how dance becomes a powerful medium for preserving, evolving and transmitting cultural narratives.

The diverse genres underpinning their work offer a resonant backdrop to a captivating dialogue that moves us beyond borders and connects through the language of movement. This is an opportunity to explore the tapestry that interweaves across dance-making and how cultural identity informs its practice. It invites us to appreciate the beauty of human diversity.
