Her-acre, a work in progress by Julie Lockett
Thurs 13 April 4pm | Dance Limerick Performance Space | Free entry
Her-acre is the culmination of artist Julie Lockett’s investigation into the global poly-crisis and how this is reflected in the microcosm of one woman, ‘Her-acre’, our heroine.
For the last three years, Julie has been developing her dance practice in harmony with the land around Cloughjordan Ecovillage. She has worked in different weather conditions, sometimes barefoot, building tolerance to different temperatures, working in a space bounded by trees instead of walls. She then brought the resulting material into the studio and translated it into a theatrical experience.
JULIE LOCKETT is a dancer, choreographer and teacher based in Tipperary. After graduating in Dance Performance from Middlesex University, she co-founded and directed Genesis Project & Collective with Ella Clarke, a practice-based project for radicalisation in the art form of dance, mentored by eminent American dance artist Deborah Hay and with offshoot projects in Philadelphia, Brooklyn and L.A. Her most recent collaborations have been with Instant Dissidence: One Last Dance - An Chéad Damhsa and …As If Trying Not To Own The Earth through Riot Rye, performed as a film and live streamed as part of Dublin Dance Festival.
She is associate artist with youth circus project Cloughjordan Circus Club and has received support from the Arts Council, Dublin Fringe Festival, Project Arts Centre, Dublin City Council and Tipperary County Council.
