Introduction

Established in 2013, Dance Limerick is a dedicated centre for art where movement and choreography are at the centre of the work. We create opportunities for artists, individuals and communities, to discover and participate in dance.

Our purpose is to inspire curiosity, creativity and connection through dance. We believe dance empowers and enriches us as individuals, as communities and as a society. Our ambition is for Dance Limerick to be a place for dance and a hub of creativity for our artists and for all those with whom we engage. Through dance we support artists and the public alike to be curious, to be creative and to connect with each other and to what matters in the world about us.

While we are based in the heart of Limerick city, our focus is also national and international. To this end, we collaborate regularly with Dance Ireland, Firkin Crane, Galway Dance Project and Dublin Dance Festival. We are members of the European Dance House Network (EDN), and the Aerowaves Network of dance presenters. Through these forums, we exchange practice and information with our national and international peers which allows us to contribute to both the national and international dance ecology.

OUR SPACES

Dance Limerick operates out of two beautiful spaces situated in the historical Georgian area of John’s Square in Limerick city.

The Dance Limerick Studio is bright, light and warm, has a sprung Junkers wooden floor and is the location for many of Dance Limerick’s classes and workshops as well as home to visiting artists. The offices and studio are located in the Georgian building just across the square from the Dance Limerick Performance Space.

The Dance Limerick Performance Space (St. John’s Church, John’s Square), informally known as ‘the church’. The unconventional building is a former Church of Ireland, now a dedicated dance space with high ceilings, wall to wall sprung dance floor and lofty arches. The space invites dancers, choreographers and audiences to stretch their imaginations to new heights.
