Dance Limerick are delighted to announce our Summer Youth Dance projects for ages 5-12yrs & 13yrs+. Each week long project runs from Monday 16 – Friday 20 July in our studio in John’s Square. The programme will take you on a journey of discovery, where you will work in a fun, creative and supportive environment with experienced hip hop and contemporary dancer Rachel Sheil.
In Rachel's own words: ‘Come for oodles of dancing ending in a mini-performance at the end of the week! We will be exploring and learning two different styles a day: Jazz-Lyrical and Hip-Hop and will be learning choreography and exercises to your favourite songs. If you want to make new friends, learn something new and express yourself then come dance with us!’ You will learn to use movement as a form of expression and are encouraged to engage fully in the creation and formation of dance. The project will culminate with an informal performance at the end of each week.
About the teacher: Rachel Sheil is a dance artist, teacher and choreographer based in Limerick City and a recent graduate of the MA in Contemporary Dance Performance, Irish World Academy. Rachel is experienced in contemporary dance and hip hop and is also influenced by K-Pop (Korean Pop) music and dance.
All Dance Limerick’s teachers and assistants are Garda Vetted.
Through a combination of performance platforms, residency opportunities, master classes, talks and lectures, Dance Limerick will advocate for artistic dialogue and exchange. In collaboration with dance artists across a range of practices, Dance Limerick will promote the creation of new and innovative work and will devise programmes of access, engagement and participation for the wider public.
Based at the premises of the former Daghdha Dance Company, Dance Limerick houses offices and a fully equipped studio space along with a separate performance venue known as the Daghda Space
