DL ASSOCIATE ARTIST OPEN CALL

Dance Limerick surprises, challenges, inspires and engages people through dance. Through its programmes of residencies, performance, training and research, Dance Limerick promotes, supports and celebrates innovation and excellence in the choreographic arts. Dance Limerick nurtures the art form of dance by providing professional artists, across a range of practices, with a platform for artistic dialogue, professional development, research, creation and presentation, alongside practical supports for dance and its production.

In keeping with Dance Limerick’s objectives, we invite applications for the new Associate Artist programme beginning in August 2019.  The aim is to support the creative practice and organisational  development of an emerging maker/practitioner who is keen to progress to the next stage, and to work with us to develop their practice further. Alongside a programme of development tailored to the individual artist, Dance Limerick is offering a small commission of €5,000 toward the creation of a new short work, to be presented as part of Dance Limerick’s programme of professional performances, which includes the What Next Festival.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking applications from early career choreographers based in Ireland who are interested in advancing their practice to the next stage. While the scheme is not stylistically specific, we hope to recruit artists pursuing clear objectives working across dance and movement, and who have presented at least one publicly performed work at a professional venue.

The Associate Artist will be appointed in June and the Associateship will begin in August 2019 for a period of 18 months.
