Katia Manjate began her training in traditional dance in 1994. In 2003, she deepened her studies in contemporary dance through the 1st Choreographic Development Workshop organized by Culturarte (Mozambique) and Danças na Cidade (Portugal). Since then, she has received professional training from several national and international choreographers, including Boyzie Cekwana and Desire Davids (South Africa), David Zambrano (Venezuela), Matt Vooter (Netherlands), Francisco Camacho (Portugal), Gilles Jobin (Switzerland), Faustin Linyenkula (DR Congo), Olivier Dubois and Victor de Oliveira (France), Maria Helena Pinto, Augusto Cuvilas, and Panaibra Canda (Mozambique), among others.
Kátia’s class is rooted in the rhythms and grounded movements of Mozambican traditional dance, connected with contemporary dance techniques to explore body awareness, and collective energy.
