Colin Dunne in residence

Dance artist Colin Dunne will be enjoying a residency at Dance Limerick from April 12 to 17

During this time, Colin will be developing new material with musicians Becky Ni Éallaithe (concertina), Ultan O’Brien (fiddle/viola) and Jacob Woulfe (sound engineer).

Olivier Award nominee COLIN DUNNE is a traditional Irish dance artist who works across dance, music, and theatre performance platforms in Ireland and Internationally. His critically acclaimed solo works Out of Time and CONCERT have been presented at prestigious venues and festivals including Baryshnikov Arts Centre NYC, Barbican London, and Biennale de la Danse Lyon.

BECKY NÍ ÉALLAITHE is a sean-nós dancer and traditional musician from Connemara. After studying at the Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick, she has performed as a dancer, musician, and singer at festivals across Ireland and Europe. As a concertina player, Becky seeks to create a strong connection with dance and the dancers she plays with.  Her creative work blends music, dance, song and contemporary work, focusing on cross-disciplinary collaborations. Recent performances include An Fear Liath with Fíbín & Centro Dramático Galego and Damhsa na gCoiníní & Women of Note at Temple Bar Tradfest.

ULTAN O’BRIEN is a fiddle/viola player & composer based in County Clare. Ultan has a background in traditional Irish music and improvised music and performs as a soloist and in duos and bands with Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin, Martin Green (Lau) , Nic Gareiss, Slow Moving Clouds, Skipper’s Alley, Neil Ó Lochlainn’s Cuar, and John Francis Flynn.
In 2020, Ultan and Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin released an album, Solas an Lae, on the Scottish label Watercolour Music which was awarded Best Folk Album at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards 2021. Most recently, Ultan released his debut solo album, Dancing the Line, through Nyahh Records.

JACOB WOULFE is a composer, musician and songwriter based in Limerick City.  Jacob recently completed a Master’s degree in Songwriting at the Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick.  He has composed for various productions such as ‘Bloodlines’, ‘Ayé’, ‘House’, and the feature film ‘Lulu and the Electric Dreamboat’, which won ‘Best International Film’ at the LA Punk Festival 2024.
