BALLET FOR ADULTS, WITH PATRICIA CROSBIE - SIX WEEK CLASS
Thu 27 Apr '17 to Thu 01 Jun '17

Thursdays for six weeks from 27 April 2017** 6pm-7.15pm Dance Limerick Studio, 1 & 2 John's Square, Limerick Fee: €60 (for six weeks) Level: Improvers **This class is currently full. Please see below. A very popular class at Dance Limerick, this class is suitable for those with some recent experience of ballet. This ballet class works on developing posture, flexibility, musicality, balance and movement co-ordination while building on the basic rudiments of ballet. It consists of a gentle warm up, followed by a classical ballet barre (exercises specifically designed for warming up the body and improving technique, precision and posture). This is followed by exercises in the centre, away from the barre, which focus on balance, posture and co-ordinating music with movement. The class finishes with a warm-down and gentle stretch to improve flexibility and breath control. There are multiple benefits of training in classical ballet: It enhances the body-mind connection and awareness, develops strength and flexibility and makes the dancer more sensitive to rhythm and coordination with the music. Come and join this lovely class! Teacher: Patricia Crosbie Patricia Crosbie was a member of Irish National Ballet for 6 years, dancing leading roles in many of the classics, including Swan Lake, Nutcracker and Cinderella. Patricia was a principal with London Ballet Theatre and Vienna Festival Ballet and toured worldwide with the renowned rock band, The Kinks, choreographing and performing in their concerts. Patricia is now Ballet Mistress with Cork City Ballet for whom she has choreographed many ballets. She has conducted workshops and master classes for INYB, Crux Dance Company, Siamsa Tire and Dance Ireland and has been teaching Adult Beginners Ballet classes at Firkin Crane Dance Centre for almost 3 years. Patricia taught ballet and jazz ballet on the Diploma in Dance course at Cork’s College of Further Education (CSN) for 12 years and is now ballet tutor on the MA and BA dance courses at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at University of Limerick (UL). Patricia was awarded her MA in Dance from UL in 2011 and has been appointed Associate Artist for 2015/16 by Dance Ireland. **This class is full.
