THE LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER
By Ella Daly

Director: Ciarda Tobin
Dramaturg: Helena Enright
Set & Lighting Design: Sarah Jane Shiels
Cast: Aidan Crowe, Georgina Miller, Monica Spencer, Joanne Ryan.

“The Lighthouse Keeper”, the new production from Amalgamotion Theatre Company, runs at the Dance Limerick Space (St John’s Church) from 11-15 November. “The Lighthouse Keeper” chronicles that moment when life comes full circle and the parent who cared for and nurtured you in infancy needs care and nurturing in old age. The baton is passed and you become the lighthouse keeper. This new work promises a close look at the role of family and community caregivers and the challenges they face, as well as some of the more light-hearted moments that can occur when caring for a loved one.

Playwright Ella Daly says “We are delighted to bring this production to the stage. The subject matter is not only close to my heart but one that is very much at the centre of houses all over Ireland as family caregivers and carers struggle daily to help their loved ones. It will hopefully raise awareness of the difficulties faced by carers as well as the great joy that caring for a loved one brings and will shine a light on the lighthouse keepers who steer us all safely home. We really hope that this play will draw in audiences and give them an entertaining, thought provoking and life reaffirming experience”.

About Amalgamotion
Amalgamotion is an award winning Limerick based theatre company. Founded in 2002, Amalgamotion currently consists of three artists: Ciarda Tobin, Helena Enright and Ella Daly. Each has a particular area of interest, their own style of presenting work and experience of working in different areas of contemporary arts practice. Together they collaborate on a "2 of 3" basis, with one artist leading a piece of work artistically while one of the other two provides administrative, production or dramaturgical support. This system enables them to continue making work as Amalgamotion while pursuing their individual arts practice.
