(ALLOW) EVERYTHING SOMETIMES

When is a moment a memory?

“(Allow) Everything Sometimes”, a theatre/contemporary dance piece by dance artist Nora Rodriguez, in collaboration with Shane Vaughan (poetry) and Kevin Kiely Jnr (theatre/film), will be performed at Dance Limerick on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 June at 8pm. Tickets €12/€10.

“(Allow) Everything Sometimes” has evolved from a shorter work, “Everything Sometimes”, which was first performed in late 2014 as part of the PULSE initiative for Limerick City of Culture. Fraternal ties, memories and death were explored in the first experimental work.

Based on a dream experienced by Nora Rodriguez, this interdisciplinary piece now invites the audience to explore all avenues of creation within a framework of impermanence, asking questions such as:

– When is a moment a memory?
– When is that fleeting feeling lost again to the past?
– What separates a character from a person?
– When is movement merely that and when is stillness dance?
– What role does the audience play in conjuring memory?

Speaking about the piece, Nora Rodriguez says “Things do or do not last. What shifts them back into the fold of memory, or of unknowing? What use is the written word in darkness, or the spoken word in silence? “(Allow) Everything Sometimes” does not seek to answer these and other questions, but to highlight their existence, allowing room for further exploration by the audience, so that they can reach their own interpretation or conclusions. Shane, Kevin and I hope that, with our diverse performance skills of dance, poetry, theatre and film, we are creating something moving and thought-provoking for the audience to experience”.

“(Allow) Everything Sometimes” is supported by Limerick City and County Council and Dance Limerick.
